block of green goo (EDIT: HALWA)

This was purchased for me in Brick Lane by the lovely Nik.
It is a block of green goo. (EDIT: I found out it is called Halwa)

It looks like either modelling clay or a prop from a sci-fi film. I can imagine alien larva incubating in a vat full of this.
It had no packaging and was given to me in a plain plastic bag.
It has an oily sheen, and the texture is like wet cake or crumbly jelly. A poor description but the best I can do. It has pistachio bits in it.
Tastes like golden syrup and a hint of pistachio.
It's ok, I suppose.
Would not buy again.

it looks and sounds a lot like a red bean jelly cake to me! i know they come in green tea varieties but i don't know how green those are as i've never seen them in shops.

if it is a jelly cake, then they are usually served with tea, i think! they are too savoury for me but better with tea.
